Sophistique Noir Meets CorpGoth!

Back in July, I was delighted to receive an unexpected email from Trystan of This is CorpGoth announcing that she would be in Los Angeles soon for a weekend excursion. She suggested we get together for a drink while she was in my general vicinity. Thankfully, her arrival synced perfect with my schedule, so we met in her hotel lobby for a little Gothy girl talk. This was my first blogger meet-up, and I’m a fairly reserved person in real life, so I was hoping I wouldn’t be too quiet and bore her to death. 😉 Trystan is delightful and charismatic, and I felt like I already knew her from following her blog for years (in fact, hers was one of the first Gothic fashion blogs I discovered, and one that inspired me to start my own), so it turned out that I felt right at home chattering away with her.

Sophistique Noir Meets CorpGoth

Of course there was photographic evidence of this meeting of fashionable Goth minds.  My dress is from White House Black Market.  I thought it was perfect for going from office to evening, and I was channeling Billie Holiday (one of my latest obsessions) with a bold white hair flower and pearls.  Trystan wore an adorable black sun dress trimmed in pink, with a matching hair flower and a fun shell necklace that we’ve seen on her blog.  Also, how much do Goth girls in glasses ROCK?!

Side note: there’s still time to join in the September theme if you want to share your makeup-inspired posts!   The Linky closes at midnight tonight, Pacific time.

Also, a heads-up: the October 1 theme will be Black and White.  Ooh, the fun we can have with this one…  😀

  1. YAY! This makes me ALL KINDS OF HAPPY!!! 🙂 As you both know, you two have been the biggest inspiration for me to start my own blog, so it’s incredible to see you together. WAHOO!

You know, Ms. Kitty, I’ve missed your blog posts. I’m glad to see you back and blogging. It wasn’t the same around here without you.

    • Aww, thanks! I’ve missed blogging more regularly, myself. Although to be honest, most of my August posts were prepared in advance so my blog could run on auto-pilot while I went off the radar. But I’m proud of myself for going to the effort of prepping all of those posts! I think the meet-up with Trystan re-invigorated my interest. 🙂

      • Good idea! I wish I did that for this coming September!!! Sheeze, I have such a full schedule with teaching and getting ready for my defense that I need to seriously stick to a stringent schedule or I won’t get anything done.

Aw, Trystan can re-invigorate anyone. Welcome back, doll!

It won’t come as a surprise that I adore the flower pattern on your dress.

    • Haha! Of course! WHBM always has amazing floral prints. You should check them out! They are pricey, but this one was an eBay steal. Lots of nice stuff out there for good prices if you keep an eye out!

  5. Yay, goths with glasses are the most fabulous kind, especially if it’s Tristan and you! 😉

I’m looking forward to the black and white theme already!

  6. I’m so glad you had the time to meet up with me! That was fun 🙂
