Red & Black Week 2014, Day 6: The Grand Finale

Click photos for larger view.

Another set of grainy, blurry photos today… But I don’t care, because this is my Grand Finale outfit for Red and Black Week and I’m excited to share it!  At least the photos aren’t SO terrible you can’t make out the items in my outfit. I did take the detail shot below AFTER sorting my camera out, so at least one photo is clear!

Now’s your final chance to get involved in this fun event. It’s great exposure for your blog, and we all end up with many new followers and new favorites to follow ourselves.

Gothic Red Corset

I have to admit, I’ve felt very trapped in the drudge of normalcy lately. As I mentioned in a post last week, my job is always crazy and lately a lot of personal responsibilities continuously rear their heads. That means little time to blog, and even less time for a nightlife: a scenario that always causes me to grow malcontent. So last weekend, we finally made time to break a several month long night club dry spell, and had WAY too much fun doing it!

Gothic Red Corset

Today, we say hello again to the red Frederick’s corset I featured on the final day of my very first Red and Black Week back in 2011.  As I mentioned in that post, I’m not a huge fan of the functionality of these inexpensive fashion corsets, but I love the price and the variety available.  So I decided to give this line a try, and to get the best of both worlds I just wear my favorite steel-boned underbust cincher beneath the lovely but flimsy Frederick’s piece.

I have a love-hate relationship with this Sinister skirt.  I loved it when I wore it with this outfit the other evening, but hate it in these photos.  I think it’s just too casual for this look (yes, I do have a strange idea of “casual”).  However, it does give me a distinctly different silhouette than the skirt I paired this corset with last time around, which was exactly what I was going for.

Gothic Corset and Accessories

This club ensemble proudly featured my Ravishing Ruffles choker from fellow blogger Hexotica.  This exact piece seems to currently be unavailable, but check out Hexotica’s Etsy shop for dozens of other gorgeous items!

  1. You look absolutely stunning. I’ve just been checking out Hexotica’s Etsy shop and she does have some lovely pieces.

I totally sympathise with feeling that normality and responsibility is pulling you back from your interests and passions – I left my job 2 weeks ago due to sheer exhaustion and care responsibilities after a really grim start to the year. Now I am wondering what to do for the rest of my life!

Thanks so much for organising this week, I’ve had a blast 🙂

  2. Great outfit and lovely hair as well!

  3. Beautiful outfit as always. Thank you very much for continuing with Red and Black Week!

  4. Your gloves, your skirt, i want them!!! that red corset rocks, i remembered you wore them few years back..keep rockin it dear!!

  5. Gorgeous as ever! I do approve of wearing one cheap corset over another good one; I’d like to get a corset some time in the future (not likely, but I can dream), and plan on remembering this trick for future reference.

  6. Floor lenght tiered skirts are way more casual, than your other clubbing skirts, for example the ruffled lace one you featured earlier this week, but it’s not always a bad thing;
The lenght of this skirt is really flattering, it makes you look taller and even slimmer and somehow majestic. 🙂

  7. Wow you look beautiful. The corset and skirt are so pretty and work so well together.

  8. Just lovely,I like the corset and skirt pairing you chose, they work perfectly together

  9. I hear you on the drudge of normalcy. I opened my corset drawer the other day and felt sad! Time to go out soon! I love the skirt and beautiful corset. You look stunning.

  10. I feel your pain regarding the job issue….there have been many dramatic changes to my workplace in the last little while and they were not changes for the better. It is really starting to get to me and it’s starting to have an effect on my personal life, which is not a good thing. It does help to put on something fabulous and go out.

I think the details on the skirt go perfectly with the details on the corset! All of your accessories tie in perfectly as well!

  11. Gorgeous as usual! Great idea of pairing a steel-boned cincher underneath an inexpensive corset – I would have never thought to do that. I respectfully disagree with you on the skirt – I don’t think it’s too casual at all (at least from the photos). And if my normal photos look half as good as your blurry ones, I would be very happy. 🙂

  12. Oh I love that skirt! I used to have a similar one but the lace tore very easily. Also, what’s wrong with these photos? Heh, I can’t tell 🙂

Thanks for another fabulous fun Red & Black Week!

  13. layering corsets…holy moly what a great idea…so simple i’m embarrassed I didn’t think of it myself. Thanks for hosting another great red+black week!!

  14. The photos look fine to me! I like the skirt and gloves especially; you’ve mentioned the skirt is from Sinister, but where are the gloves from? They seem to be made of nice-than-usual lace. Whenever I see lovely skirts, I always worry they’ll be too short on me because at nearly 5’10” a lot of skirts that are supposed to be about floor-length just aren’t on me 🙁

  15. Not the post I originally envisioned, but stuff happens.

    I LOVE that skirt.

  16. Congratulations on another great red and black week! I love this from the waist up – but I don’t love the skirt in the photos- however, I bet it looked very cool while you were dancing! I am amazed by hexotica’s creations – I was looking at her blog from the links earlier this week. 🙂

  17. Congrats on another great red and black week, and thanks again for doing this. I have tried doing the linky thing again.

  18. Your grand finales always live up to my expectations! You look amazing; I especially love the elegant way you’ve styled your hair!
Thanks for mentioning my choker! I am currently selling only ready-made items to stay ahead, but i do make them to order when requested..FYI readers! 😉
I hope you don’t mind that I’ll be posting this lovely last pic all over Hexotica’s web sites…I think they are fine; well-lit and polished as always. 🙂
