Welcome to Day 1 of the 4th Annual Red & Black Week! Last year, we had a total of 49 participants, and 15 of us posted ALL SIX days of the event. That’s more than 1/3 of our participants! Can we break that record this year?
The balance of red and black in my outfits this year is a bit different from previous years. This time around, I decided to focus more on subtlety in the red and let it act as just a highlight for most of my looks, rather than the dominant element. I’m also challenging myself to re-use certain pieces from years past, since one of the primary interesting aspects of following a daily style blogger is seeing how the same pieces can be remixed to create fresh, new looks. Since most of us do not have an unlimited supply of variety in our closets, this is a crucial skill to learn if you don’t want to get totally bored.
In this outfit, I’m featuring a skirt that I just wore very recently on my blog, but this time in a very different summery look. I’ve also shown this top before, although it’s been quite some time since I don’t wear it often. I adore the lacey straps, but find that overall it’s not as figure-flattering as I would like. Still, it’s perfect for running around on a weekend trying to stay cool without losing my elegant edge.
I also wanted to kick off the event featuring a gorgeous creation by fellow blogger Countess Audronasha of Gothically Yours. I ordered this necklace from her Etsy store, Deadly Cherries, and it immediately became a favorite piece in my accessory collection. I love how adding a new detail can make clothing pieces I’ve worn a zillion times feel fresh again.
