Today’s outfit was shot entirely on location!
It’s not often that I do my outfit photography outside of my home studio. I like working in an environment with controlled lighting and no looky-loos. Sometimes for car shows we leave the house rather early, so I don’t really have time to photograph before we leave (and often I end up doing half my makeup on the way, anyway). There was a moment at this show where the lighting was nice and the crowds were relatively thin, so Mr. Kitty took advantage of the opportunity to get some shots as proof that I really do sometimes expose myself to the outdoors. Reluctantly.
Orange is not my favorite color for cars, or anything else, but this one happened to be in our nice quiet location so we used it as a backdrop. It’s not our car. I don’t know who’s car it is. But the detailing is quite amazing, despite the color.
I’m glad we were able to get some photos of this outfit after all. I wore my coveted Alchemy Gothic locket and a pair of chenille arm warmers from Sock Dreams, and carried my Battenburg lace parasol. This parasol isn’t great for long stretches of sun exposure (yeah, sun comes right through lace!), but most of this show was indoors so I knew the time spent outside would be minimal and broken up throughout the day. The ruffly purse was a Wal-Mart find. I don’t usually shop there, but once in a while we go to pick up something that Target was out of stock on. And then we browse out of morbid curiosity. And this purse was an awesome deal at $7.
I’ve mentioned before that most decent car shows have a few vendors there designed to keep the ladies happy. At this show, I scored two huge hair flowers and these earrings. I know, you can’t really see the earrings here, but consider this a teaser. I’ll be featuring them close-up in my next post.

Such a gorg outfit! I love your style so much… I think if I saw you in the grocery store, or out on the sidewalk, I'd just run up and hug you. I wish more people dressed so beautifully and so gothicly! ♥
My God, you're beautiful! ;-D
Classic Goth look! I love Alchemy Gothic's jewelry, for the most part. I have one or two great "statement" pieces from them. I didn't see a close-up of the locket. Have you featured that in another post? Congrats on the earrings, can't wait to see what you picked out!
oh now this looks different than your usual outfit posts, dont know itf it is because of what youre wearing or because of the background but i like it
glad you had a nice day and found some new treasures!
You're so beautiful. I wish I colud look like you! Xxxx
Lovely in lace! I know what you mean about shopping at Walmart, when we do shop there (which is rare), I want to look at everything seeing as "you never know". You got a cute purse at an amazing deal
It's nice to see some on location photos of you every now and then although you have a very neat home studio as well. :3 And those photos turned out pretty, though I understand very well what you mean about controlled lighting. Your outfit is so elegant, I'm quite sure you stood out in a car show in a positive way!
So lovely! Car shows don't seem to start here until July so I'm jealous you've already gotten to go to a few!
I'm going to miss my favorite in Austin this weekend, the Lone Star Roundup. Oh well. You look absolutely amazing! I'm sure Mr. Kitty was having to fight em off tooth and nail! Love your parasol. I find that car shows are ALWAYS the place to carry one or get a wicked sun burn. GAH!!! you just look awesome!!!
I love your outfit! The lace gives it a flirty delicate touch, despite it being floor lengths and consealing. Very Femminine and elegant. You always stun me with how beautiful you look.
Perfect Vamp! I'm glad you guys took photos of this look! I'm sure you turn heads wherever you go. Gorgeous!
You look spooktacular! I do like you in traditional goth clothing (which is my own style, so I can get eventual inspiration
).
I love your outfit, that shirt is sooo lovely! The parasol is beautiful, I always wanted one like this, but I couldn't afford it. Now I have a lace-printed umbrella, which is also very decorative. ^^
Angie Bailey, aww!! If you see me in real life, please do!
It would make my day.Amy, ***BLUSH***heatherphillips, I did wear the locket in a previous post – sorry I forgot to link it! It was here: Alchemy Gothic Locket Post I still haven't taken a photo of what's inside; I'll save that for the next time I wear it!
kakuidori, it's probably the outsideness of it that makes it look so different. And that I haven't had much time to post weekend outfits lately. I'll have to change that, as I'm getting kinda sick of seeing my own work outfits dominating this blog.
V, you are too sweet!Meagan Kyla, I'm glad to know it's not just me!! I also scored an awesome grey paisley scarf. You truly never know!!Raphael, Mr. Kitty is getting pretty good with the camera, so these did turn out pretty well. And yes, we tend to be fairly conspicuous at car shows, but most of the obvious attention we get is fairly complimentary.Lady Bethezda, we have 'em year-round here! In fact, by July I'm just about done with them. ;-D Partly because it gets SO hot by then. That's when we start holding out for the *really* good ones. Be patient; the shows will hit your area before you know it!AngelShinigami, thanks!! You ladies are really good for my ego today…
GothBarbie, I just wish we'd had a friend along to get some "couple" photos this time.Violette B., thanks! *giggle* I have lots of traditional Gothy stuff; I've just been so focused on work stuff lately I haven't been enjoying it enough. I'll work on that.
Lynoire, I found this one one eBay a long time ago for a really good price. Do a search for "black battenburg lace parasol" from time to time, and eventually you should be able to find a great deal! There's one on there now with a starting bid of $9.99, and another with a Buy it Now of $14.99!Le Professeur, **HHUUGGSS**
AWWWW! I love you outside and SHOPPING! A goth in her natural setting: shopping for pretties!
You look gorgeous, my dear! Simply divine.
You look absolutely amazing as always!I too avoid Wal-Mart. I only go in there on occasion to buy my fake Scentsy bars. I also sometimes browse out of morbid curiosity haha! It pays off once in a while – I got a super cute shirt this past Halloween.
Great outfit and I love the on site photoshoot with the parasol.
Thank you!
^^
I just love this outfit! Classic goth is the best!
Very vampire indeed~! If you were here on the east coast, I'd wager people would end up wanting to take more pictures of you than the cars [or maybe just the other ladies would].Can I find Battenburg things online, or is that a local shop? I'm putting thought into getting a tall parasol number.
How cool are you!! Gorg goth and car show is a great combo. I'm hoping to get Ms Lou out to some car shows this summer as well. Good post and well done! (D)
Such a lovely classic goth outfit! These ones are always my favourites. And it's nice to see some 'on location' pictures for a change. I have the same Alchemy Gothic locket, it's really beautiful.
