This scarf is another great find on Amazon. I subscribe to their Prime service, so I can easily send gifts to far-off family members and buy necessities (and fun things) for myself that might be difficult to find locally. I often know exactly what I want, and when I do, substitutes will not suffice. I would much rather spend an hour searching for the perfect thing online than two hours driving around town/walking through the mall, only to find that I’d have to drive over an hour to L.A. anyway. At some point, I got it into my head that I needed a polka-dot scarf. This one came in square or rectangular, various colors, and several other patterns, and it’s the softest silk ever. I chose the rectangular one, because I am so fond of tying my scarves in sweet little bows.

Gothic style

The black with white polka dots combination is perfect for a pseudo-vintage look. And I think it goes perfectly with these peep-toe shoes from Newport News (sorry, I got them over a year ago and they are no longer available).

dark fashion

Matching red lips and nails, an updo with hair flower, and flesh-tone stockings complete the vintage effect. I just wish the stockings had a back seam… But don’t get me started on that again! ;-D

Are you an Amazon Addict like me? Do you prefer to shop online, or in stores?

another awesome outfit O_O seriously you never fail. btw those shoes remind me of some demonia shoes (no peeptoes though) that are still available so maybe that might be some alternative for interested people :-D that bow looks really cute on you, totally matches the outfit and cherry nail polish *sigh* perfect!i also prefer to shop online (except for cosmetics) but thats maybe because i live in the middle of nowhere and will change when i finally move to a bigger city again :-P (though i will never quit online shopping in total)

the scarf and nails are the perfect additions to the outfit! and i am definitely an amazon addict. i'm on a shopping ban for pretty much everything while i search for a job..but i still look at the site every other day..

It's a lovely outfit! ^^ I don't really like to wear scarfs, but this one is too cute! I'd definitely try it with a white shirt fully buttoned up, I think, they'd look nice together. :)

  4. I feel like you need a desk with a big rotary phone. Maybe a card catalog. Very library.

Very cute! I like the pleats/ribbing and the shaped hem on the top.I'm a Prime subscriber also. Amazon is great! I prefer to browse and buy online. I rarely shop in stores for clothes, shoes or accessories. I do like thrift stores, which are a bit like Amazon in that they carry things "from A to Z". :)

You look lovely as always! O prefer to shop online because thats where I find the clothes I like. There is a indian trading store where I use to go if I want to shop clothes in a store. Otherwise I go to second hand stores. There is something special with stockings with back seams. I have my little vintage treasures with a wonderful quality….I need to dress up more often!

Aw, you look beautiful! Trés chic and gorgeous as always. What a lovely sweater! And I really like the way the buttons of the skirt peep out. It really makes it eye catching and interesting I really like your hair swept up with a sassy scarf tied around your neck! It suits you perfectly. We must be on each other's wave length — I'm totally gaga for retro lately! :) I love when we do that, my friend! Big HUGE ((((HUGS)))) from NYC!

Lovely! I buy these back seams from Cats Like Us: http://shop.catslikeus.com/products/black-pantyhose-w-black-seam and they are pretty nice! I also have them in nude and it looks like they are currently out of them. I'm friends with the owner and you can always email her and ask her if they are getting any more in stock.;)

  9. Lovely outfit. I ususally don't shop on Amazon b/c I can't use paypal. If they would accept paypal I'd be all over it. :) Also, pertaining to Meagan's post above, the owner of Cats Like Us is in Ladies in Black so you could post the question there too.Cheers!Oh yeah, and for Mr.Kityy – El Camino's FTW!!!! :)

  10. Very classy and cool. You sort of have that "sexy librarian look," which I am sure my boyfriend would love me to emulate at some point…I don't do Amazon anymore. Had my credit info stolen off of there after making a simple $10 purchase last December. Wish they had a PayPal option to prevent taht from happening but they don't.

  11. kakuidori, that is so sweet of you to say! :) Oh, and you are right – buying cosmetics online isn't always a good idea, especially if you are trying a new product. I like that places like Sephora and Ulta let you return products after trying them… But if I know a product is excellent, I'll try to get a deal on it on eBay. ;) liz, I hear you! I'm trying to majorly cut back on spending, and the Amazon temptation is strong. It's hard to make an adjustment like that! I truly hope you have success in your job hunt soon! :) Lynoire, great suggestion! I might have a white shirt this would work with. Thank you!Tante, lol! I can see that, definitely.Bane, yes to thrift stores! I wish we had good ones in my area. :( Le Professeur, I saw your comment on your blog about going vintage lately, and I think it put me on that wavelength. This post was from my archives. So I kinda cheated this time… ;-Dlinnea-maria, I'm the same way – the Internet has what I want; local stores often don't.Meagan, thanks for the tip! I will get in touch with her, for sure!Lady Bethezda, I'm rather surprised Amazon and PayPal haven't teamed up yet… It would make perfect sense! And lol – I'll tell Mr. Kitty you said that. :) Unlacing, "sexy librarian" is actually one of my favorite looks. it would totally work on you, btw… ;) Yikes; I never store my CC info on any sites, but sometimes that's still not enough to keep you secure. I don't blame you for shunning them after that experience!! :(

Again, a lovely outfit! And it does look very vintage. I really like the skirt! It looks like it can be combined with many things, which is always a good thing. The scarf is very cute and sophisticated because of the smaller dots. About 80% of my shopping takes place online. I love to take my pick from a very wide range of options and I like to search for the best deal. I also buy a lot of second-hand clothes on the internet and I mostly have good experiences. If there were more alternative/gothic shops around town though, I'd definately go there to try things on. We have one really good gothic shop in town, but I never have enough money to buy anything there. :/ A pity, for I would like to support such smaller shops financially now and then.

  13. Jamie says:

I love this outfit-the vintage vibe works so well on you since you look like an old-school siren! The polka dotted scarf is great and I love the shoes-all brilliant!

  14. Corin, this skirt has become one of my favorites. I used to not wear it much because it's a soft knit and attracts cat hair, but I've been less lazy about lint rolling lately… :) I too have found that local Gothic shops are pricey… Online at least you can comparison shop and maybe find the same thing cheaper, or even something you like more. I like to support local business owners, but only when they can be at least reasonably competitive.Jamie, thank you! That's an awfully nice compliment! :)

  15. teaneko, *gasp* !! Yes, they are gorgeous! Sadly for me (but lucky for my bank account), they don't come in size 5. :(

  16. Ali Cat says:

I love love love that scarf. Oh my. I'm addicted to Amazon for media and gadgets but only occasionally buy other stuff there. I did buy a pair of shoes once! And a couple of bathing suits through Spiegel via Amazon. None of those things worked on me (I think some things end up there because they were odd cuts and such) so thank goodness for their return policies.

  17. Lynn Brooks says:

you make an adorable pin-up girl.

  18. Hexotica says:

Oooh, I *really* love this look on you! What a cute neck bow and shoes. Your hair looks super pretty in this style too.I have been shopping on Ebay and Etsy mainly, but I've done a lot of browsing on Amazon.

  19. Maeam says:

Oh…Online shopping. Sometimes. Except for shoes, but only because I it's so hard to find my shoe size!Love this outfit. You look a bit like an awesome secretary…
