One year ago today, I published my first-ever blog post here on Sophistique Noir. it was just a silly bit of babbling about why I was interested in blogging, and a chance to get my feet wet using Blogger. I really thought no one would be too interested. Now, just 12 months (and nearly 225 posts) later, I have 466 followers on Google Friend Connect, 296 on Facebook, and a wonderful group of regular commenters that I look forward to interacting with on my blog as well as theirs!
I’m seriously getting weepy writing this, because this blog had become so special to me. Not only has it become a much-needed outlet for creative expression, it also puts a very personal part of me out there for the world to see and crititque. But most importantly, I’ve grown to love this little online community and the interaction with fellow Goth ladies of all ages and nationalities. I feel connected here in a way that I certainly don’t amongst the “normal” world. So thank you, all of you who read and comment, for making the past year a rewarding one for me on a whole new level!

WOW. I totally thought your blog had been going longer than a year. It is so professional and put together. A BIG congratulations to you. I understand how you feel. Our blogs become an extension of ourselves and we pour so much into them. I'm glad you are still getting joy from doing Sophistique Noir, I know I enjoy reading it.

Only a year! I, too, thought this was a much older blog. It's so focused! VK, you've be such a treasure to me. You and the online community you speak of. Until I found you through Amy over at (the formerly known as) UGG, I knew of no ladies my age living out this lifestyle. I've become much more daring since finding you (on no, now I'm getting weepy, too!) and the rest of the "gang," because I feel much more a part of a community and not so alone in my eclectic tastes. You're doing something great here, so I'm glad you're pleased with it. We sure are. =)Now I must go read that first blog post to see how far I have to go from mine! XD

A few months ago I stumbled on your blog and was instantly inspired. As you know I was trying to figure out how to be a professional academician without losing me. Your blog showed me that it truly is possible to be put together and yet divinely dark and spooky.

happy anniversary!I have been diggin your style. I'm technically not goth, although my ecclectic fashion taste has a lot of goth elements (goth mixes very well with hip-hop{and vintage/elegant/boho/chola/etc}). I do appreciate goth style way more than most other fashion subcultures and double appreciate anyone that does it with such amazing flair(if i lose weight i'm stealing your clothes).I'm especially interested in your blog because you show not only how to dress professionally while still retaining your own identity, but that us older ladies don't have to start dressing like hags (or worse, yuppies,cringe), that there is a way to make the style grown-up without being boring or dowdy. here is to you first year and many more to come, salud.lynn
