Yes, sometimes post titles are terrible difficult to come up with. :) But at least it accurately describes what I am wearing. I also have a somewhat similar blazer that I’ve worn before but this piece is a lot more casual. The cardigan is meant to be worn open in the front but it looks unfinished like that, so I just pinned it at the bottom. I would like to add a chain across the bottom so it’s open about an inch or so. I’ll put that on my long list of projects for “someday.”

I think the cardi works well with this magenta strapless top with side ruching (I’ve worn the top before). The contrast between the military-esque buttons and collar with the bright pink is kinda fun.

My love of certain military-inspired clothing is strictly an aesthetic thing. I like the vintage look it can lend to an outfit, and looking “sharp” is sometimes an interesting contrast my usual style, which is decidedly more romantic.

Do you prefer sharp and crisp styles, or soft and flowing romantic looks?

  1. I like anything with sharp cuts. I like the flow-y look on others, but it isn't really my thing. And the military look is also a favorite of mine.I also have a hard time with titles sometimes, but being descriptive about the content in the post can draw more viewers (even if they are followers — whether they see it on the Dashboard or if they are browsing through your blog archives)

The cardigan is very stylish! I can imagine it looks better pinned like that, at least that's how I'd want to wear it. And I would totally wear that with a little chain, I actually have one which I've worn with some vests in the past. As to sharp or soft styles, I like both. If possible, I like to mix them together somehow in order to create outfits with some contrast.

  3. I'm fond of sharp cuts and (military-style jackets in particular!) I really like the idea of adding a chain closure to the bottom of the cardigan, although it looks pretty cool as it is ^_^

The sharp military cuts can go very well with romantic ruching and lace, I think! I love anything military that isn't green.

  5. I like both depending on my moods! I generally find sharply tailored items easier to wear than flowy skirts! I think this look is gorgeous, it's really fun. The bun in your hair works perfectly with the look and the touch of bright lipstick pulls it together! Love that military cardigan. :)

Ok, this blazer is gorgeous, I must find one like this…! ^^Depending on my mood, I like both as well, but most of the time I prefer crisp looks. A couple of years ago I used to wear romantic outfits, these days I rather dress comfy, buy edgy…^^

It depends. I like both crisp looks and romantic, flowy looks, but more flowy types most of the time.

Very nice! I agree, I like the magenta with the military look. It throws what we expect on its head and makes it interesting. hmmm …I like all of the styles you mentioned. I think it really depends on my mood. As you might have noticed I tend to dress according to how I'm feeling, seeing my body as a canvas and my clothing my paint. Sometimes I feel very crisp and professional, other times I'm wandering around Manhattan with flowing skirts and lace cuffs. :) I think it also depends on the weather and season. I tend to get more romantic in the spring and fall. :)

    Needs more combat boots!

    That's a really cool look!

you look awesome!my clothing also depends on my feelings (well and if i have to work or not), i think my wardrobe covers everything but cyber things…

Military-Inspired Cardigan Thingie, Sir! ;) I really like the silver buttons and the shape of the collar and lapels.I like crisp and sharp styles on others but usually not on myself. Soft styles are a better balance for my sharp, pointy body o' prominent bones.

  13. Sharp is definitely an often well noticed contrast, and rarely will get critique no matter what goes with it~ [strange really... or maybe it's the underlying feeling of respect for military related things...? Strange thought processes are strange.]I think if you put a chain on it, maybe you'd like a little multi-chain piece to go across? Unless the one chain was thicker. But I like it as it is now, too~! ^_^ [It almost makes a heart, with your top.]

The military cardigan looks great, and I definitely think it looks better closed at the bottom than completely open. While I tend to wear more flowy romantic styles more (they seem to be easier to wear) I like crisp styles also. However I love, LOVE, the combination of flowy romantic pieces and crisp, military pieces together in the same outfit.

  15. Oooh. Love this cardigan "thingie". ;) I would probably sport it with a wiggle skirt and big boots! But you know, I could see it with the right flow-y skirt too. That way you could have the best of both worlds.

  16. Le Professeur, That's a great way to look at it! And it's awesome to keep your style options open for your mood and the environment. I find that stylistically my crisp, professional days and my flowy lace days don't always fit in with work days vs weekend days – I'll often wear a romantic look to work or a blazer out to dinner. You just never know! That's the most fun. :) Tenebris, that is sound advice for blog post titles! Sometimes I have the whole post done, and sit there for five minutes trying for a clever title. In those cases, it's better to just say it like it is. :) Raphael, thanks! Good idea on mixing crisp and soft. I love to pair a blazer with a long, flowing skirt!!Aristocratic Elegance, you look great in crisp lines!Hexotica, you now have me thinking of styling this cardigan in a drastically different way next time around. I was convinced that only pants would work with it, but perhaps I was being hasty…Irish Phantom Cat, thanks!! The bun was just a lazy day thing, but now I feel better about it. :) The lipstick is Morgana Cryptoria balm in Diabolical Druscilla. My favorite!Lynoire, I wish I could remember where I got it!! When I can't remember, that usually means it was some small clothing store in the mall or something. I love your comfy, edgy looks! :) Meaem, I agree. I like a nice, tailored look about 40% of the time, and something softer the other 60%.High Arka, not allowed at my job. :) Jennifer, thanks!!kakuidori, thanks! You sound like you have a wonderfully diverse style. I think that's awesome! There are so many great looks out there – no reason to tie oneself down to a strict style.Bane, lol! From what I've seen, your soft homemade styles are so awesome.Sir Isaak, wow – you have a good eye for Find the Hidden Heart. Okay, no, I didn't plan that, nor did I notice it until you commented… But I like it! :)

  17. Sabayon, yours is the second vote for combining military pieces with romantic pieces. Consider it done next time I wear this cardigan!Lady Bethezda, that's kinda the look I went for with my other military blazer (minus the big boots, and not too tight on the skirt, since I was at work that day). Definitely going to try this one with a flowy skirt soon! Thanks for your suggestions!

Thank you! It's nice of you, I'll keep my eyes open and maybe, someday, somewhere I'll find one…;)
