Most Awesome Legwarmers

Mr. Kitty and I spend a busy Sunday hauling and lifting, helping some people out. I hate to miss a day where I get to dress cute without the restraints imposed by my work environment, so instead of the typical t-shirt and jeans for manual labor, I got creative with the shorts I bought in the summer and a satin halter top you’ve also seen before. Of course, it was too cold for shorts, and even too cold for shorts with tights. Luckily, I had just received an order from Sock Dreams featuring these babies. Yes, those are thigh-high cable-knit legwarmers!

I needed comfortable, flat footwear, so I opted for my grungy Dr. Martens Mary Janes. Not the cute ones with the heel that I’ve worn before, but a chunky flat pair that you haven’t seen yet (and may never see again). These shoes are indeed comfortable, and durable, and the straps make them just cute enough, barely.

The shrug is made by Capezio, purchased online from Discount Dance Supply. I’m not a dancer, and never have been, but Capezio opaque tights are my all-time favorite. Those are actually them that you see peeking out beneath the legwarmers. I love how the shrug echoes the line of the halter strap, creating fun shapes.

Overall, this look is skirting the edge of “sophisticated and mature” but we all need to just have a little fun once in a while. :) At least I kept it classy by covering up, well, just about everything!

  1. I appreciate your use of dance wear as everyday wear. It is pretty versatile and comfy too!

  2. I absolutely adore your outfit!! You look super cute with those braids and the leg warmers are fantastic!! I immediately went to the Sock Dreams website and found leg warmers suitable for myself (I'm tall… need extra coverage.. lol) but unfortunately they are out of stock… Waaaaaaaaah!!!

It may not be as mature as what we're used to, but it looks awesomly cute, I really love those legwarmers! I checked out the website too and they have some cool things, I might get some after the holydays…^^

Yay for dancewear! I've noticed fishnet and mesh are very trendy in dance wear right now. There's a tattered tutu over at Dancewear Solutions I'm yearning for, also. Might be a bit young for me, but I'm willing to give it a shot. =D Love the outfit. I tend to be wary of wearing all-black being boringly safe (due to my college days when I really did get into a rut), but this is definitely not boring! Perhaps partially due to nostalgia for the mid-80's, but I love legwarmers! =D

Noooooh! Keep the mary janes, I love them! Send them to me if you don't want them; I'll buy them! I'm a size 7.5 btw :P This outfit is MEGA cute. I need to buy a pair of leg warmers like those. Maiki would love them on me!

That is a very cute outfit, I didn't know they made thigh high legwarmers to be honest!

  10. I have been looking for legwarmers just like these! How I missed them I just don't know. I also love the shoes. I can no longer wear high heels due to balance problems, and those would be perfect for work.I agree about the quality of dancewear. I used to dance many, many years ago, and the tights are much stronger than anything you'll find in a regular shop.Happy holidays! :)

The hair makes you look like a grown-up version of Wednesday Adams in a good way :3 Those leg warmers really are fabulous :)
