Theme for November 1: Gloves & Armwarmers

October 19, 2011 by kitty  · 12 Comments  · 305 Views

The theme for November 1 is: GLOVES & ARMWARMERS

The November theme was suggested by Celeste of Fade to BlackNow that it’s nice and cool outside (most places) it’s time to start layering.  Perfect opportunity to break out your favorite arm and hand coverings! Any type of gloves or armwarmers can be included.  Winter gloves, opera gloves, fingerless, half-finger, knit, velvet, lace, satin, leather…  Just show us your favorite gloves and armwarmers!

Be sure to come back on November 1 and submit your post.  It can be photos of yourself or someone else wearing gloves or armwarmers, or any inspiring images you find, a review of a certain brand, a story, a movie review, artwork or anything (as long as it’s about gloves or armwarmers!).  Just be sure to cite your source if borrowing photos or content that are not your own original work!  :)

How It Works
On the first day of each month, I will post my theme post with the Mr. Linky sign-up form at the bottom. You can link to any post you’ve done that day or previously, as long as it matches the theme. Be sure to add the icon to your post, and link your post to mine using the Mr. Linky box at the bottom.

You can post your theme post earlier than the first of the month, or link to an old post, but you must add it to Mr. Linky on Day 1 of the month. I know things might be busy right before Nov. 1 with Halloween festivities, so I will leave the Linky open for an extra day this time. Mr. Linky will close at 11:59 PM PST on November 3.

You don’t have to participate every single month. Feel free to join in whenever you wish. Just be sure you get your post linked before the second day of the month!

Also, let’s keep the posts appropriate for all ages, in terms of both language and imagery. Thanks!! :)

Posts that are linked up without including the icon will be removed from Mr. Linky.

HTML for the icon: (The icon and the HTML will remain the same each month)

Please pass this invitation on to any bloggers you know who might be interested, and feel free to share the announcement on your blogs.  Of course, it’s a good idea to follow my blog to be sure you don’t miss any of the themes.  ;)

Want to Suggest a Theme?
Leave a comment on any post at any time, or e-mail me. If I use your suggestion, I will credit you on my theme post for that month and in the theme announcement the week before.  No promises that I will use every suggestion, because the themes have to be things that I would be able to do a post about.

Want to participate in the Monthly Theme? Here’s how:

  1. Add the Monthly Theme icon to your blog post (copy the code below and paste into your post using the Edit HTML feature):

    <a href=”http://www.sophistiquenoir.com/search/label/Monthly%20Themes”><img src=”http://www.victoriankitty.com/blogPhotos/2012/07/monthly-theme-icon.jpg” border=”0″></a>
  2. Paste the URL to your post using the Mister Linky box at the bottom of my August 1 post.
Please use a direct link to your relevant post, NOT a link to your blog’s home page.
  3. Visit all of the other participants who have entered, and show them you appreciate their theme posts!

  1. Of course, you pick a theme impossible to do in the heat that is Australia! Oh well, I'm going to Melbourne that weekend, so I'm sure I can find SOME photo ops. ;3

  2. linnea-maria says:

That theme is perfect! And perfect for me! I have some armwarmers made by myself. In wintertime I'm often freezing and the wrists is hurting a bit so I use them when I work by the computor.

  3. Hellcat says:

I;m in. I have a few gloves that I absolutely love and can't wait to show off. Expecially my lace corset gloves

  4. Oh, this is perfect! I'm just making my new arm warmers right now. You bet I'm going to participate and it will be my first time. :)

  5. Le Professeur Gothique says:

You know that I'm participating!!! I have gloves and lots of them! Wooly weather here we come! WAHOO!!!

  6. Le Professeur, yay! Looking forward to your always enthusiastic contributions! ;) Kitty, how about some lightweight lace gloves or such?linnea-maria, awesome! And I know what you mean; if my office is cold I get terrible wrist pain. :( Hellcat, I can't wait to see your gloves! They sound divine.Kamyria, I'm so glad you'll be joining us this time! :)

  7. Jamie says:

Ohh, sounds fun! Do fingerless gloves and handwarmers count as well? Because I have a rather unholy number of those…

  8. Awww sweet!@Jaime: That's what I planned on using. Along with some others ..

  9. Jamie, absolutely! Even fully handless armwarmers would count (like the ones I made here: http://www.sophistiquenoir.com/2011/06/tutorial-arm-warmers-from-old-pants.html). Just as long as they are not regular sleeves attached to a top. It'll be fun to see how much variety this accessory offers! :) Tenebris, Glad you'll be joining in!

  10. i actually have a piece in mind for this one. especially since i blew it for the last one

  11. Julianne says:

Oooh yay! I think I've done a post about gloves before but I am planning on knitting a pair of armwarmers soon.

  12. Sal Kaye says:
