Car show season is still in full swing! We spent a day last weekend hanging out with a batch of car guys we recently met who are rapidly becoming good friends. Having a prime selection of classic, custom cars as a backdrop was just a nice bonus.
For some strange reason, I continually think it’s cute to wear my hair down or in pigtails to outdoor car shows. Usually, it’s the wind that makes me regret doing so… This time, it was a surprise visit from Mr. Humidity. In the desert. Oh, AND the wind.
Lesson learned. Expect to see me in chignons for all subsequent car show posts!!

| Hmm… Why does my backdrop keep moving? Ohhhhh, it’s Perseus! |
One thing I prefer about the custom scene over more traditional classic car groups (such as hot rodders) is the selection of vendors available at the shows. Yes ladies, this means shopping! At a car show!! Custom shows attract a huge rockabilly crowd, and while that’s not my thing per se, one thing we do have in common is a love of hair bobbles. I scored two sets of bows and a magnificent flower, all in magenta. You’ll be seeing those soon!

| Rockin’ the shades, briefly, until I realized they conflict with false lashes! |
This skirt is from Ross, of all places! Yes, I know I went on about how I refuse to ever set foot in a Ross again, but a co-worker convinced me to give their home section a shot and in doing so I did encounter a couple of nice pieces in the clothing section. The strapless top is from Wet Seal, I believe. Parasol was eBay and hair bows are made by me. Cool sunglasses: Hollywood Boulevard kiosk!

I love your hair down for a change. Excellently styled. You may have regretted it later, but it looks divine in these picture. And the portrait with Perseus peeking around the backdrop is classic in every way. LOL
Awww, such a pretty kitty ^^Once I saw the images in this post, my eyes popped. The hair and the makeup really brings out some youth! I don't like pairing sunglasses with mascara so I can see why false lashes could be a problem!
you look stunning!!
I love that dress!! and I love the last picture with the car!!
I'm actually one of those people who loves Ross. I seem to have good luck whenever I go in there. I admist most of the Ross stores I've been in are on the disorganized side, the shoe area especially, but I don't mind hunting through the racks. That's part of the fun for me, like a treasure hunt. Have you tried Marshall's? They are like Ross, but I find they are more organized. I like stores like Ross, Marshall's and TJMaxx. Also if I find something I like at Ross that's not in my size they seem to all get the same things in at the same time so I can find my size at another branch. Same for Marshall's and TJMaxx. Lovely hair as well. How often do you get trims? JE (Jenan)
I like your pig tails a lot. Your outfit, too! And I want a parasol like yours! It's lovely.
You look absolutely stunning!!!!
I think I would wear it with combat boots.Anyway, I love your hair
I love your hair in pig tails. I think it looks cute. I also adore classic cars. They are so pretty to look at, unlike the jellybean cars of today.
VA-VA-VOOM! Wow! You look absolutely gorgeous and stunning. You usually look gorgeous and stunning, but this one is a WOW! I really like that skirt on you. And your hair looks so adorable! My favorite photo is the one with the sunglasses — so GOTH ROCK STAR! Hugs from NYC!
Gorgeous outfit! Your hair looks so cute too, sucks about the wind and humidity
That happens to me aaall the time.
You look lovely. I love the top, the parasol, and your cute hair bows and hair style. It'll be car show season here in October; I get dragged to lots of them. thank goodness for the cool market tables; !'d be bores shitless otherwise!
Traicetrak, thanks! I do love my hair down or in pigtails… Perhaps I will continue to do it but then put it up after the photo shoot if needed.
Perseus is dying to be the star of my blog, of course.
Lady Catherine, boots would be very cute with this skirt, but alas, that look is not "me" at this moment (although there have been times when such would have suited me perfectly). I will, however, be pulling out a fine old pair for my September one-day theme…
Mary, aww! You are sweet, and good for my self-confidence.
I love the shades too, although they are almost too tiny to do even a bit of good.Tenebris, I know what you mean about the mascara. Even my regular glasses get tiny streaks all over them from my lashes rubbing on them all day. Funny thing is I don't even feel it happening at the time… But false lashes bumping the lenses are definitely noticeable!!BallerinaDark, Mr. Kitty captured the shot of me with our car. It's my favorite, too!je9601, that seems to be the case: one person has terrible Ross luck and another scores every time. I have not tried Marshall's or TJ Maxx, but we have those close-by. I will check them out next time I'm out shopping. Thanks for the tips! Oh, and I actually only trim my hair about twice a year. I prefer the tapered look over a blunt edge, so I just let it grow natural and do its thing, only trimming when the ends just start to look bad.
Sal, Sara's Parasols makes a style very similar to this one. I don't know if they ship internationally… They even have one version that uses a special fabric to block more UV rays (a bit pricey, but worth it if it works!).Sunduri Das, I couldn't have said it better myself!
Today's cars have no style (and they all look the same!).Phoenix, I guess it's something everyone with long hair has to deal with.
There must be some place with the perfect climate!!
Hexotica, lol! I usually do okay, depending on the crowd. The custom shows are more fun by far, but when it's just a bunch of retired guys with Mustangs and Chargers I'm usually ready to leave after 20 minutes.
Love this outfit! The hair and the parasol are super cute to!
