Wow: Can it Get any Hotter???

You guessed it: I complained about the long winter and the slow start to summer, and now I’m complaining about the heat! I should have actually complained about the total lack of a spring, as that is my favorite season and what we were deprived of this year. Basically we went straight from bitter cold wind to 105.

This is my best effort to survive in such conditions. Wearing as little as is decent and becoming on a woman of my age. The strapless top is from Forever 21. Of course, they called it a corset due to its styling, but we all know it’s just a strapless top with corset styling. :) Two strips of plastic boning and some hooks in the front do not comprise the real thing. But it is a wonderful little top for hot days.

The skirt is from a random mall store. I think. I honestly don’t remember on this one. But it is sheer, has three tiers and drapes lower in the back (my favorite!). I usually wear pettipants instead of slips, as they are a safer choice when the wind is blowing. I even went without stockings of any kind due to the heat. That is very rare for me… The hair today is just two side buns.

Lately I’ve been noticing that Owl Mania has hit. It seems like the accessory department of just about every store currently has at least one specimen on display. I never thought I would fall victim to this trend, until this little guy begged me to take him home. What’s his great appeal, above all other owls? Simple: he looks like Prometheus. Fluffy and grey, with big eyes and stripes on his forehead. Yep, just like Prometheus!

Do you ever see things that remind you of your pets in silly ways?

Not to post a "me too" style comment, but my beloved Jascha (RIP) also reminded me of an owl, but only for the eyes. Enormous, piercing, yellow eyes! We're experiencing horrible weather hear in the Northeast, but I think it's making national news because we just don't get this kind of heat.To stay on topic, the fan is lovely!

  2. Yes it is very hot and at home I just wear a pair of shorts and a random top.Airy dresses are my weapon of choice to face the hot cosmos outside the safety of airconditioning

  3. At first glance I thought the title said "Can I get any hotter?". Then I get clicked and thought, no, no you can't. But, I was wrong cause you are smokin' in the linked post! Love the owl necklace. I'm about to jump on this trend too.

  4. MinaKitty, Jasha must have been quite beautiful with such dramatic eyes. I've been hearing about the amazing heat on the east side of the country lately. I hope you guys get a break soon!! We've had a few *really* hot days, but all in all the west coast has been unusually cool this summer (so far!).Cooking Chinchillas, you are smart. I need to stock up on shorts, since we try not to overdo the AC at home. Airy dresses are the best for when you simply can't avoid going out in the heat. Comfy, and they breathe well!Piper, lol! No, my ego isn't quite that big, although with comments like that it surely will be soon. ;-D

Looking very glamorous despite the heat! I'm wearing about three sweaters, two pairs of socks, got the heater on high and sipping tea all the time just to stay warm!

I'm jealous of your outfit and your hot weather! Typical british weather.

Fantastic Prometheus … err … owl necklace! ;) Really, I do love this one. Owl Mania has hit German stores, too.Your outfit is fabulous! You look like a beautiful and very gothic Spanish Flamenco Dancer.Lousy weather here. :(

That place always gips you of a proper spring. A week (maybe two if you're lucky) of pleasant weather between the icy cold and blasting hot. You look fabulous! Love the owl and the bracelets.

I have been into owls forever and love that they are so popular now. But I haven't seen a necklace as great as the one you have here. Where ever did you find it?

  10. Miss Stasha, this owl came from a little shop called Styles For Less. I think it's a chain here in California, but I don't know if it's nationwide.

Thank you. I'll have to be on the look out. It certainly is the prettiest owl pendant I have seen. Although I've been intrigued by the steampunk ones that seem to be getting popular that have gears and mechanical wings. I find that while I like the idea behind most steampunk that I don't like to wear it myself. but an owl that can fly!I currently have an owl usb toy that sits on top of my monitor. When plugged in it flaps its wings and opens its eyes while turning its head side to side. Actually it sits on top a stump. It gets annoying after about 10 minutes and makes my cats want to attack the monitor after about 10 seconds. LOL.
