I bought this grey eyelash lace top from H&M on my recent shopping trip. Simple as it is, it is probably my favorite purchase for the day. The fabric looks like plain jersey knit but it’s very soft and a bit shiny in person. The delicate lace bodice and sleeves feel very vintage to me.
The tiered skirt is from Macy’s. I bought the beaded scarf while vacationing in London, but it’s from India. The lovely pendant is another gift from my husband. I think it was the first piece of jewelry he ever bought me, and it’s still my favorite.
The grey hair flowers are from Claire’s. As you might have noticed, my favorite hairstyle for work lately is a side bun with flowers. It’s soft and feminine, keeps my hair from tangling, and is low-maintenance all day long. I wear a hair net over the bun or little bits jump out and by the end of they day it looks like a chinchilla stuck to my head. A black hair net is virtually invisible and keeps me from having to re-do the bun mid-day.
I wonder why modern society rejects certain brilliant inventions from the past, such as the hair net? They really are not just for fast food employees…

Ten points! I do like the net bag, I have one indeed but I was not sure about it untill now. You´re an inspiration!Where is the necklance from?
A lovely outfit! I specially like the delicacy of lace fabric.
I love the outfit, very sweet
The gray lace top is lovely – I especially like the delicate sleeves!
I have to say, this is one of my favorite outfits. I'm a big fan of gray, and that top is perfect! I wore snoods a lot as a child, so I understand the appeal of a good hair net. In fact, I spotted some snoods and hair nets in a store a week or two ago – I might have to go back…
Mmmm, chinchillas, tasty!
I have that top!! I love H&M. Maybe especially so because it seems to be set up by color scheme. I can just run in and hit the sections that have black, gray, blue, or purple. And they always have good lacey options. Love the whole outfit!
I think the sleeves of your shirt make it a winner~! At first, I thought your scarf was a choker which looked fabulous anyway; but the back picture showed me otherwise and it seemed a jabillion times better [I don't know~! Not that I don't think an actual choker wouldn't look as good either, aaaah!]Grey is a great color sometimes [but that's just based on when I buy it. Sometimes it does seem great]. After all, there's a big ol gradient between where black becomes white. So yours doeth well~
I love grey! The top feels so romantic, really sophisticated. I love the outfit n_n.
Such a lovely top! It doesn't look like something from H&M at all. Great find!
So this is pretty much the outfit I had already planned for gaming tonight, so funny! My stuff is minimalist though – plain V-neck T (thankfully truly gray and not the ubiquitous heathered sweatshirt gray! Shhhit'sfromTarget) and one of my straight long black skirts. Will have silver and crystal jewelry, but haven't decided if I'm going to wear my black or my silver sequin wedge sandals. Hmmm…But anyway! You are so right, a hair net makes SO much sense! In fact, how about one in a bright or deep color, in thick enough fishnet that you could see it well in contrast to your hair? If they don't make 'em it would be so easy to DIY. (How about a pair over cat-ear buns?)See how inspiring you are?
Violette, I'm not sure where he found the necklace (he can't remember) but I'd guess Dillards. Several of the things he's bought me have been from there.Joy, the sleeves were my favorite part, too.Gen, thanks!
Corin, I've only been to H&M twice now, but I find they have some good stuff hidden around the store if you look hard enough!Ru, your planned outfit sounds lovely! Silver and crystals are always good, especially with a grey/black combo. And I say definitely go for the silver sequin wedges!!
Great idea on the contrasting fishnet bun cover. I love it!
